Taxonomy
Nonomys was named by Emry and Dawson (1973). It is not extant. Its type is Nanomys simplicidens. It is the type genus of Nonomyinae. It was considered paraphyletic by Walsh (2010).
It was assigned to Simimyidae by Emry and Dawson (1973) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Nonomyinae by Walsh (2010).
