Taxonomy
Pecten (Lyropecten) bowersi was named by Arnold (1906). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gillis's Ranch, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in California.

It was recombined as Vertipecten bowersi by Moore (1984) and Smith (1991).
