Taxonomy
Cidaris pratti was named by Clark and Twitchell (1915). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wilmington (Castle Hayne LS, N. Carolina), which is in a Bartonian marine wackestone/grainstone in the Castle Hayne Formation of North Carolina.

It was synonymized subjectively with Cidaris smithi by Cooke (1941).
