It was recombined as Phalacrocorax miocaenus by Lydekker (1891); it was recombined as Oligocorax miocaenus by Lambrecht (1933); it was recombined as Nectornis miocaenus by Cheneval (1984), Mlikovsky (2002) and Göhlich and Mourer-Cauvire (2010).
