Busycon blakei was named by Conrad (1855).
It was recombined as Perissolax blakei by Gabb (1864), Gabb (1869), Stanton (1896) and Waring (1917); it was recombined as Pseudoperissolax blakei by Clark (1918), Stewart (1927), Hanna (1927), Nagao (1928), Turner (1938), Squires (1984), Squires (1987) and Squires (2015).
It was recombined as Perissolax blakei by Gabb (1864), Gabb (1869), Stanton (1896) and Waring (1917); it was recombined as Pseudoperissolax blakei by Clark (1918), Stewart (1927), Hanna (1927), Nagao (1928), Turner (1938), Squires (1984), Squires (1987) and Squires (2015).
