Taxonomy
Anas columbianus was named by Ord (1815). It is extant.

It was recombined as Olor (Olor) columbianus by Wetmore (1956); it was recombined as Olor columbianus by Parmalee (1958) and McCoy (1963); it was recombined as Cygnus columbianus by Hay (1930), Wetmore (1931), Wetmore (1940), Miller and DeMay (1942), Olson and Rasmussen (2001), del Hoyo et al. (2014) and Clements et al. (2017).
