It was reranked as the order Dolichosauri by Gadow (1898); it was reranked as the order Dolichosauria by Perrier (1928).

It was assigned to Pythonomorpha by Gadow (1898) and Perrier (1928); and to Squamata by Woodward (1898) and Swinton (1934).
