Corsochelys was named by Zangerl (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u].
It was assigned to Desmatochelyinae by Weems (1988); to Cheloniidae by Zangerl (1960), Thurmond and Jones (1981) and Carroll (1988); to Dermochelyidae by Hirayama (1995); to Chelonia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dermochelyoidae by Bardet et al. (2013) and de Lapparent de Broin et al. (2014).
