Taxonomy
Eotrigonodon was named by Weiler (1929) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani T Eo-m-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2,863]. Its type is Eotrigonodon wardhaensis.

It was assigned to Eotrigonodontidae by Casier (1946), Tabaste (1963) and Kumar and Loyal (1987); and to Tetradontiformes by Sepkoski (2002).
