Taxonomy
Zatracheidae was named by Williston (1910). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Schoch (2013).

It was corrected as Zatrachydidae by Kuhn (1946), Paton (1975), Boy (1989), Boy (1990) and Yates and Warren (2000).

It was assigned to Rachitomi by Watson (1919); to Rhachitomi by Kuhn (1946); to Temnospondyli by Boy (1990); to Eryopoidea by Paton (1975), Carroll (1988), Boy (1989) and Yates and Warren (2000); and to Rhachitomi by Schoch (2013) and Schoch and Milner (2014).
