---|---|---|
H. W. Miller 1969 (Archaeognathidae) | Small, comblike structures, consisting of phosphatic, cone-shaped denticles aligned along a base consisting of a bone-like substance. The base may be v or horseshoe shaped, and the denticles may be confined to only a portion of the base. The denticles attachment to the base is acrodont. The entire structure is phosphatic, and the denticle sare transparent or translucent. | |
H. P. Liu et al. 2017 (Archeognathidae) | Large conodonts with individual elements that can be longer than 10mm; a highly modified apparatus consisting of only three pairs of elements, one pair of coleodiform and two pairs of archeognathiform; all elements containing robust basal bodies with distinctive radial or oblique ridge-and-groove surface ornamentation; denticles hyaline and fibrous, with rare or absent white matter. |
