Taxonomy
Haemulon strascinate was named by Lin et al. (2017). Its type specimen is IRSNB P 9964 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saint-Geours-d’Auribat, Poudenx brickyard, which is in a Lutetian marine marl in the Donzacq Marl Formation of France.
