Taxonomy
Trionyx vindobonensis was named by Peters (1855). Its type specimen is NHMW 1853/0016/0003, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tegel von Hernals, which is in a Serravallian terrestrial horizon in Austria.
