It was assigned to Scomberesocidae by Sauvage (1873); to Beloniformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Belonidae by LeSueur (1821), Bedini et al. (1986), Gaudant et al. (1996), Carnevale and Godfrey (2018) and Argyriou (2022).
