Taxonomy
Carcharodon angustidens was named by Agassiz (1843).

It was synonymized subjectively with Carcharodon auriculatus by Chapman and Pritchard (1904) and Chapman (1918); it was recombined as Carcharodon (Procarcharodon) angustidens by Thurmond and Jones (1981); it was recombined as Otodus (Carcharocles) angustidens by Szabo et al. (2017).
