It was assigned to Pholidophoridae by Jordan (1919) and Jordan and Gilbert (1919); to Ganolytidae by Jordan (1921); to Clupeiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Clupeidae by David (1943) and Fierstine et al. (2012).
