Taxonomy
Paralbula was named by Blake (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 915]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Paralbulinae.

It was assigned to Paralbulinae by Estes (1969), Case and Schwimmer (1988) and Peng et al. (2001); to Anguilliformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phyllodontidae by Estes and Berberian (1970), Bryant (1989), Weems (1999), Hoganson et al. (2019), Ebersole et al. (2019) and Ebersole et al. (2022).
