Taxonomy
Galeus minor was named by Agassiz (1835).

It was recombined as Galeocerdo minor by Agassiz (1843), Gibbes (1847), Woodward (1889) and Hay (1902); it was recombined as Eugaleus minor by Casier (1946); it was recombined as Galeorhinus minor by Casier (1958) and Cassier (1966).
