Taxonomy
Coriops was named by Estes (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 915]. It is not extant. Its type is Coriops amnicolus.

It was assigned to Albulidae by Estes (1969), Estes and Berberian (1970), Bryant (1989) and Peng et al. (2001); and to Anguilliformes by Sepkoski (2002).
