Taxonomy
Thrissops was named by Agassiz (1833) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm-u J Tith-u Sepkoski's reference number: 452,915].

It was assigned to Leptolepidae by Woodward (1895) and Woodward (1919); to Pachycormiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ichthyodectiformes by Cavin et al. (2013).
