Fukangichthys was named by Su (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Fukangichthys longidorsalis.

It was assigned to Palaeonisciformes by Su (1978) and Sepkoski (2002).
