It was synonymized subjectively with Onchosaurus by Arambourg (1940).
It was assigned to Pristidae by Checchia-Rispoli (1933); to Galeomorphii by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sclerorhynchidae by Cappetta (1987), Cappetta and Corral (1999), Zalmout and Mustafa (2001), Suárez and Cappetta (2004) and Guinot et al. (2023).
It was synonymized subjectively with Onchosaurus by Arambourg (1940).
