Taxonomy
Ticinolepis crassidens was named by López-Arbarello et al. (2016). Its type specimen is PIMUZ T 273, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Point 902, Monte San Giorgio, Bed 166, which is in a Fassanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Besano Formation of Switzerland.
