Xenophora (Xenophora) leprosa was named by Morton (1834) [m. kosnik taxon no: 2637].

It was recombined as Trochus leprosa by Morton (1834); it was recombined as Xenophora leprosa by Sohl (1960); it was recombined as Xenophora (Endoptygma) leprosa by Squires and Saul (2001).
