Taxonomy
Pediocaetes nanus was named by Shufeldt (1891). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Silver Lake, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Oregon.

It was recombined as Pedioecetes nanus by Hay (1930); it was misspelled as Pedioecetes nanus by Lambrecht (1933) and Wetmore (1940); it was recombined as Dendragapus nanus by Wetmore (1956).
