Morus avitus
Taxonomy
Sula (Microsula) avita was named by Wetmore (1938). Its type specimen is USNM 13854, a limb element (distal humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Plum Point, Zone 10, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
It was recombined as Microsula avita by Olson (1985); it was recombined as Morus avitus by Olson and Rasmussen (2001).
