Morus atlanticus
Taxonomy
Sula atlantica was named by Shufeldt (1915). Its type specimen is YPM 937, a limb element (coracoid), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mullica Hill, which is in an Aquitanian/Burdigalian coastal horizon in the Kirkwood Formation of New Jersey.
It was recombined as Moris atlantica by Wetmore (1926); it was recombined as Morus atlanticus by Olson and Rasmussen (2001).
