Taxonomy
Curculio ovatus was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant.

It was recombined as Otiorhynchus ovatus by Aalto et al. (1984) and Keen et al. (1997); it was recombined as Otiorhynchus (Pendragon) ovatus by Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999).
