Taxonomy
Pycnomicrodon kansasensis was named by Hibbard and Graffham (1941). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Micropycnodon kansasensis by Nursall (1999), Shimada et al. (2006), Shimada and Martin (2008), Nagrodski et al. (2012), Bice and Shimada (2016) and Maisch et al. (2021).
