Taxonomy
Shagamella was named by Boucot and Harper (1968). Its type is Shagamella ludlovensis.

It was assigned to Anopliidae by Jin and Chatterton (1997); to Protochonetinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
