Cheirogaster was named by Bergounioux (1935).
It was assigned to Testudines by Jimenez-Fuentes et al. (1988); to Testudinidae by Karl (2007), Staesche et al. (2007), Perez-Garcia and Murelaga (2013), de la Fuente et al. (2014) and Vlachos et al. (2014); and to Testudininae by Vlachos and Rabi (2018).
It was assigned to Testudines by Jimenez-Fuentes et al. (1988); to Testudinidae by Karl (2007), Staesche et al. (2007), Perez-Garcia and Murelaga (2013), de la Fuente et al. (2014) and Vlachos et al. (2014); and to Testudininae by Vlachos and Rabi (2018).
