Ichthyosaurus longipes

Taxonomy
Ichthyosaurus longipes was named by von Wurstemberger (1876) [Composite skeleton]. Its type specimen is GPIT 1491/5 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Holzmaden, G. Fischer quarry, epsilon II-11 (SMNS collection), which is in a Falciferum marine shale in Germany.

It was recombined as Stenopterygius uniter by Maisch (2008) and Maisch (2010); it was recombined as Stenopterygius longipes by Motani (1999), McGowan and Motani (2003) and Ji et al. (2016).
