Taxonomy
Adocus agilis was named by Cope (1868). Its type specimen is AMNH 1135, a partial shell (partial plastron), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barnsboro "greensand" (Hornerstown), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
