Taxonomy
Dorcatherium moruorotensis was named by Pickford (2001). Its type specimen is CMK Mor 1'2000, a mandible (left mandible with m1-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Afrotragulus moruorotensis by Sánchez et al. (2010).
