Chanoides macropoma
Taxonomy
Clupea macropoma was named by Agassiz (1835). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Monte Bolca (MNHN Paris Bol. collection), which is in a Ypresian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Chanoides macropoma by Woodward (1901), Patterson (1984), Carnevale et al. (2014) and Bannikov (2014).
