Taxonomy
Chometokadmon fitzingeri was named by Costa (1864). Its type specimen is MPN 539, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Civita di Pietraroja (upper plattenkalk), which is in an Albian basinal (carbonate) mudstone/wackestone in Italy.
