Taxonomy
Testudo angusticeps was named by Matthew (1924). Its type specimen is AMNH 6295, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thomson Quarry, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Sheep Creek Formation of Nebraska.
It was recombined as Testudo (Hesperotestudo) angusticeps by Williams (1953) and Milstead (1956); it was recombined as Geochelone (Hesperotestudo) angusticeps by Auffenberg (1963).
