Agomphus pectoralis
Taxonomy
Pleurosternum pectorale was named by Cope (1870). Its type specimen is AMNH 1478, a partial shell (both hyoplastral bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is David Haine's Marl Pit, Medford, which is in a Maastrichtian/Paleocene marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
It was recombined as Adocus pectorale by Cope (1871); it was recombined as Adocus pectoralis by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Agomphus pectoralis by Hay (1908), Hay (1930), Hutchison and Weems (1998), Knauss et al. (2011) and Joyce and Bourque (2016).
