Hoplochelys clark
Taxonomy
Hoplochelys clark was named by Knauss et al. (2011) ["clark" is not a lapsus]. Its type specimen is PTRM 16173, a partial shell (nearly complete shell lacking anterior portions of the nuchal and much of the pygal regions), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PTRM V95018 (Silty Mudstone), which is in a Maastrichtian floodplain mudstone in the Hell Creek Formation of North Dakota.
