Taxonomy
Solen novacula was named by Anderson and Hanna (1925). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was replaced with Solen novacularis by Anderson and Hanna (1928); it was recombined as Solena (Eosolen) navacularis by Squires (1984); it was recombined as Solena (Eosolen) novacularis by Squires (1987), Squires and Demetrion (1992) and Moore (2003).
