Glomospira was named by Rzehak (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Ammodiscidae by Cushman (1927), Morlotti (1988) and Loeblich and Tappan (1988); to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ammovertellinae by Kobayashi (2012).
