J. G. Maisey 1987Hybodontidae with ethmopalatine articulation extending only onto the anterior part of orbitonasal lamina; trigeminofacialis fossa not overlain by postorbital process; shallow grooves for lateral dorsal aortae; single (posterior) pair of cephalic spines; only nongrowing dermal denticles on body and in oropharynx; groove on Meckel's cartilage for anterior lower labial cartilage; multicuspid osteodont teeth.
