Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
J. Kiaer 1932 | It is quite difficult to make an elaborate diagnosis of this suborder. The following characters are, however, common to all Cyathaspida and distinguish them from the suborder Pteraspida and Psammosteida.
I. The orbits are not surrounded by the dorsal shield, but they only form semicircular notches on it. 2. The large oblong branchial plate situated between the dorsal and ventraI shields is quite detached. 3. The dentin ridges, forming the surface of the dermal skeIeton, are smooth, not crenated as in the Pteraspids. |
