Taxonomy
Cyrtonodus brevis was named by Goto and Okura (2004). Its type specimen is NSM PV20374, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ichinotani, Fukuji, Gifu Prefecture, which is in a Moscovian marine limestone in the Ichinotani Formation of Japan.
