Idiohamites dorsetensis was named by Spath (1926) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; Cosmopolitan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Paraturrilites dorsetensis by Spath (1926); it was recombined as Mariella (Mariella) dorsetensis by Kennedy (1979), Atabekyan (1985) and Sharifi et al. (2016); it was recombined as Mariella dorsetensis by Seyed-Emami and Aryai (1981) and Mosavinia and Wilmsen (2017).
