Euclastes platyops
Taxonomy
Euclastes platyops was named by Cope (1870). Its type specimen is ANSP specimen, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hurffville, which is in a Paleocene marine horizon in the Vincentown Formation of New Jersey. It is the type species of Rhetechelys.
It was recombined as Lytoloma platyops by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Rhetechelys platyops by Hay (1908), Hay (1930) and Zangerl (1953).
