Taxonomy
Corax falcatus was named by Agassiz (1843).

It was recombined as Galeocerdo falcatus by Leidy (1873); it was recombined as Squalicorax falcatus by Applegate (1970), Herman (1975), Thurmond and Jones (1981) and Forey et al. (2003).
