Taxonomy
Turritella fasciata was named by Lamarck (1804) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Atlantic.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mesalia fasciata by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910), Douvillé (1920) and Cox (1930); it was recombined as Mesalia (Sigmesalia) fasciata by Eames (1952); it was recombined as Sigmesalia fasciata by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
