Elasmaria was named by Calvo et al. (2007). It was considered monophyletic by Calvo et al. (2007).
It was assigned to Euiguanodontia by Calvo et al. (2007) and Novas et al. (2019); to Iguanodontia by Dieudonné et al. (2020); and to Ornithopoda by Madzia et al. (2018), Herne et al. (2019) and Moyano-Paz et al. (2022).
