Echmatemys callopyge

Taxonomy
Echmatemys callopyge was named by Hay (1908). Its type specimen is AMNH No. 2087, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is White River (Uinta B), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.

It was recombined as Echmatemys septaria callopyge by Roberts (1962).

E. Vlachos 2018Echmatemys callopyge can be diagnosed as a member of Echmatemys based on the characters mentioned for that clade above. Echmatemys callopyge differs from other Echmatemys by the following combination of characters: no contact between vertebral I and marginal II, pleural I laterally covering the nuchal, entoplastron covered by both gulars and pectorals, femorals medially much shorter than anal scutes, anterior and posterior lobes well-rounded, and a narrow and rounded anal notch.
